Like Lisa, My Foxtel IQ doesn’t have s-video. It has tv and vrc scart, orange coaxial and the white and red audio and hdmi. As I said, no s-video so how would you recommend I connect my DVR to Foxtel so I can record my programs?

I currently have the tv scart going to the tv, the vcr scart connected to an av sender (to watch foxtel on another tv).

Can i use the hdmi to connect to a recordable dvd player? Or am i best to connect the IQ to the tv via the hdmi (i believe their can be audio issues with this), leaving the scart connections free for the dvd recorder and av sender (if this is possible)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Andrej,

great article, really helped, although i feel bad now i have always used composite and never seen it as such old technology lol

i have signed up for iq and will have it installed sometime this week. i have a panasonic dvd recorder/vcr combo and i intend to connect it up in the way you have suggested (one output to the dvd/vcr recorder one to the tv) but my question regards any limitations on recording.

for example, is the content recorded to the iq in such a way that it cant be re-recored (similar to how dvd's cannot be re-recorded through a similar input [i.e dvd player into vcr] without the image distorting). if it exists, does it exist on all material? can box office movies which have been recorded to the harddrive (or even as they are being played live) be recorded to a dvd recorder without image distorion?

thanks

On a slightly different subject but still with FoxIQ2. I am trying to get an LG DVD/VCR Combi Home threatre system to work from the FOXIQ2. Home threatre is connected by a SCART cable from the VCR scart connection on the IQ2 box to an Audio/Visual line in on the LG. Surround sound works fine when I play a DVD etc but nothing out of the IQ2 eg nothing from the TV

Any suggestions ??

Just a quick one. Instead of hooking the IQ up to a DVD Recorder is it possible to hook up to a PC video capture card and record it straight to the PC Hard drive then later transfering it to a DVD. What are your thoughts seen as i dont really want to buy a DVD recorder yet.
