I have since changed my phone plan to include a data cap ($4.90 for 5 MB, no flagfall), and am now a frequent Opera Mini user.

Sniff. My first phone bill came today and I discovered, much to my horror, that Opera Mini is in fact TERRIBLE! One thing in particular makes it TERRIBLE. After finishing downloading a page, it drops the GPRS connection. When you click another link, it re-opens the connection, downloads the page, and then drops it again.

My operator (Optus) charges 25c for each connection, plus subsequent data charges per kilobyte. It's easy to see how this becomes a problem VERY VERY quickly.

There are apparently hacked versions of Opera Mini 2 floating around which get around this. Unfortunately, the only ones I've found are not compatible with my phone.
